Camp Swatara — Reviews

The campground is beautiful! The sites are large and beautifully maintained. There are many amenities, including disc golf. Everything is clean, including the bathrooms. It is quiet and peaceful. The staff and other campers were very friendly. We will return!

Excellent for family camping. Many areas for children to play. Trails and maps could be better. Beautiful weather and campgrounds. RV sites were a bit to close for our comfort. Staff were very freindly.

Camp Swatara was a very nice place to camp. Just be sure you have enough electric cord and water hose because most of the sites where we were had the hookup out in front of the site rather than behind it. There is no cell service at the camp at all where we were staying either, which would have been good to know beforehand. Nice area with big pond to fish in and lots of outdoor area activities for kids like volleyball, Gaga ball, soccer nets, basketball, etc.

The spot we reserved was based off of pictures from the website that reflected the old site numbers. We were out in the open with roads all around us at site 7. It was not private as most sites are. Also, pool was closed, splash pad was slow and there were way too many bikes out and about.

The good is it was a clean n quiet place to stay. Was definatly in a woided area. The cabin was nice n the mattresses wasnt too bad. Now the bad ...The swimming pool wasn't handicapped accessible you had to walk a muddy wooded trail to get there. The docks for boats wasn't sturdy enough for a slightly handicapped person to traverse. Which was 2 things I really wanted to do n was looking forward to.

Great campground, very clean and lots to keep everyone entertained. The kids loved the splash pad and the adults had lots of fun hiking all the different levels of trails. Our pets had a great time as well!

Very friendly campground. Low key, but it had plenty of activities.

I wasn't happy with the fact that the people, I mean not only the kids but the adults as well, rode there bikes in a racing fashion and wouldn't even stop or slow down to let me get to my site. The noise after 10 was ridiculous. People couldn't respect others that were trying to sleep. The number of cars leaving at 10 pm was annoying. The hours for the pool, canoeing, and even the mini golf were really not beneficial for anyone. The only positive thing I can see is the location. I had to do the dishes in the sink in the bathroom.

I originally booked a campsite that was very inexpensive. Never having been to this campground, I thought all was well. We were told to park in a parking lot, and follow a trail to our campsite. After about a half mile of overgrown trail, we decided we got the directions wrong. We went back to the office, and were told we were going correctly, and hadn't reached the site yet. I told the gentleman at the office we weren't going to hike our camping gear by foot, that far. He then told us there were tent sites behind the store, and we could pick one. We did, he said you are all set, and gave us a mirror tag. The next day, I got an email about an upgrade charge I was never informed of. I am not happy.

Wi-Fi did not reach our campsite. The showers were not clean. And we found out 2 days before our stay ( Memorial Day weekend) that the pool would not be open. But other than that the staff was friendly and the campground was not very noisy.

Such a beautiful and peaceful campground! We will definitely be back!!
